In short
Section titled “In short”SpeculaPro’s screens and messages are available in English and French. Each person picks their own language; if they haven’t picked one, the workspace’s default language applies. The French follows the terms used by institutions in the UEMOA zone and in BCEAO texts, such as LBC/FT, déclaration de soupçon and CENTIF.
A few things stay in English in both languages: the content of rule packs, the list of permissions, error messages from the server, and technical values such as codes and settings. See What stays in English.
How SpeculaPro chooses the language
Section titled “How SpeculaPro chooses the language”| When | Language used |
|---|---|
| On the sign-in page | The language last used in this browser. The first time, French if the browser is set to French, otherwise English |
| After you sign in, if you have chosen a language | Your choice, on every device |
| After you sign in, if you haven’t | The workspace’s Default language |
Your choice is saved to your profile, so it follows you to another computer or phone. The browser also remembers it, so the sign-in page opens in it next time.
How to switch your language
Section titled “How to switch your language”- Select EN or FR in the top bar, next to the light and dark switch. It shows the language you are using now; selecting it switches to the other one.
- The screens change at once. When you are signed in, the choice is saved to your profile.
The same switch is in the top-right corner of the sign-in page.
How to set the workspace’s default language
Section titled “How to set the workspace’s default language”You need settings.manage (by default, Administrators).
- Select Settings, then the Workspace tab.
- Under Default language, choose English or Français.
- Select Save.
The default applies to everyone who hasn’t chosen their own language, for the screens from their next page load and for their notifications from the next message. Changing it applies straight away; it never needs a second person’s approval. See Workspace settings.
What follows the language
Section titled “What follows the language”- Every screen label, button, message and help text in the web app.
- Numbers, amounts and dates. French uses a space between thousands and a comma before decimals, and puts the currency after the amount: 1 234,56 GH₵ instead of GH₵1,234.56. Dates read 10 oct. 2026 instead of 10 Oct 2026.
- French punctuation. A narrow space before : ; ? and !, guillemets « » and the typographic apostrophe ’.
- Notifications. Every email, text message and WhatsApp template exists in both languages, and each person receives theirs in their own language. See What a message contains.
